What appeals to me about Electronics?

In the current world we live in, new technology is invented every day and electronics engineering is the driving factor that spurs on this innovation. From a young age I was always interested in technology and dreamt of inventing my own creations which is what lead me to engineering. As I learnt more about engineering, the wide applications of electronics caught my eye with fascinating topics such as robotics or artificial intelligence all being part of the field.

Why I chose Renishaw

When researching into Renishaw, I found that the products they were creating really sparked my interest and felt I could understand how what they were creating would help better the future of technology. The beautiful grounds on which the company is based is also a plus!

What type work have you been involved with so far during your placement?

During my summer internships I have been involved in a lot of analogue circuit design tasks involving PCB design, circuit testing and circuit simulation. Not only is analogue circuit design the base of many circuits but is a great way of understanding electronics from the basic principles. It put me in a great position for my dissertation and helped me feel ahead once I returned to university.

What are your interests outside of work?

In my spare time I’m a music producer and DJ and have played across the UK at various venues and festivals. I find this a great creative outlet for myself due to most of my degree being science and maths. Playing for crowds has really helped boost my confidence and is an exhilarating experience.
